How/where do i file for custody and child support in Fayetteville, NC?

my fiance and i are seperating, we have a 7 month old son together. i know i need to file for custody and child support...i also plan on filing for tanf until i'm able to get on my own two feet. do i just go down to our county courthouse? what should i be prepared to bring with me? how long does the whole custody battle normally take? We live in fayetteville, nc is there any lawyers that can give me free legal advice?
